Microprocessor Report February 2025 Review
Explore February’s key tech highlights, from AWS’s Trainium2 to Intel’s Arrow Lake, plus 77 product launches and major advancements in AI and quantum computing.
In February, the Microprocessor Report team revealed one final year-in-review report focused on AI accelerators and trends in 2024, including hyperscalers developing custom silicon. One such hyperscaler, AWS, announced the general availability of its latest Trainium2 AI model training ASIC, so we also highlighted it this month. The team analyzed two SoC devices: Microchip's new PIC64 family joining the 64-bit foray with RISC-V cores and Renesas' highest-performing industrial IoT SoC, RZ/T2H. We unpacked Intel's latest laptop chips in the Arrow Lake family, which were revealed at CES 2025, and again used TSMC-built chiplets. Microsoft made headlines with its advancements in quantum computing, featuring the new Majorana 1 chip. We cataloged 77 product launches and five new IPs that were announced in February.
