The Sony IMX487 CMOS image sensor (CIS) originates from the Pregius® S family of global shutter CMOS sensors, which deliver distortion-free images, and is particularly designed to capture images in the UV (ultraviolet) wavelengths. Sony's global shutter technology, Pregius S™, with monochrome and new materials in the structure of back-layers, including OCL and high-k dielectrics (HKD)/antireflective (AR) layers, is analyzed in this report. Specifically, the IMX487 employs high UV-transmitting materials for the on-chip lens (OCL) of each pixel.
