The data-center AI chip market expanded beyond anyone’s wild imagination in 2023. NVIDIA tripled its revenue and reached a two trillion dollar valuation in the stock market. The demand for GPUs continued to make headlines with supply being the constraint for the growth. The demand for compute needed for large language models increased further, suggesting that the party is just getting started. The overall market for data-center AI chips in 2023 was $17.7 billion, with NVIDIA accounting for 65% market share. Intel was the second vendor with 22% market share whereas AMD had 11% market share. The remaining companies accounted for less than 3% of the market.
