Owen Rogers

Owen Rogers joins TechInsights as the Research Director of cloud, datacenter, and cloud AI services. He has had a distinguished career as a product manager in the hosting industry, and as a cloud industry analyst. He completed his PhD thesis on the economics of cloud computing in 2013. At TechInsights, Owen analyzes the variety of ways that cloud, data centers, and cloud based AI drive semiconductor supply and demand. He recognizes that cloud computing’s price and value differentiation is determined by semiconductors, and that cloud providers must utilize the latest chips to stay cost-effective and innovative.

Owen has a passion for breaking through hype and speculation by creatively using data to uncover what is really happening in technology markets. Previously, Owen worked as a Research Director of Cloud & Managed Services at 451 Research, leading the firm's Digital Economics Unit. He is the architect of the Cloud Price Index, 451 Research's benchmark indicator of the costs of public, private, and managed clouds. Subsequently, this product was used by a major economy to predict inflation.
