Global Cloud Market Reaches $167.7 Billion in Q3 as Growth Hits 55%

October 30, 2026

Key Takeaways

1. Global cloud infrastructure spending reached an estimated $167.7 billion in Q3 2026, up 55% year over year.

2. AI has helped the market grow 185% since ChatGPT launched; AI-specific cloud services now account for about one-third of the total market.

3. In Q3 2026, Amazon led with 26% market share; Oracle ranked among the fastest-growing tier-two providers.

AI continues to accelerate global cloud market growth

The market doubled in size in just eight quarters. Before ChatGPT launched in late 2022, cloud market growth had been declining. Since then, AI has helped the market grow by 185%, and year-over-year growth rates have tripled. AI-specific cloud services now account for about one-third of the total market.

Public infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) and platform-as-a-service (PaaS) services make up most of the market. They grew 59% in Q3. Synergy estimates that trailing 12-month cloud infrastructure service revenues, including IaaS, PaaS, and hosted private cloud services, reached $558 billion.

Provider shares shift as neoclouds segment grows

Amazon retained the largest share of the Q3 worldwide market at 26%. Microsoft and Google continued to post substantially higher growth rates than Amazon, while holding a 19% and 16% market share, respectively.

Among tier-two providers, Oracle and several neoclouds recorded the highest growth rates, including CoreWeave, Crusoe, Nebius, Fluidstack, Together AI, and Nscale. Anthropic and OpenAI ranked strongly through the platform portions of their operations. SpaceX/SI entered the top 10 after launching cloud services this year.

Key Takeaway

Dinsdale continued, “AI has totally transformed the cloud market in terms of service capabilities, customer demand, and growth opportunities. In the 10 years before the launch of ChatGPT, cloud providers drove a rapid shift in workloads and investment from on-premises data centers towards public cloud services. What we now see is AI technology propelling cloud markets in a way that was unimaginable just four years ago. As the growth rate jumps to well over 50%, the leading cloud providers are benefiting from surging revenues, but they are also facing a much-changed market landscape, with AI labs and neoclouds emerging as both partners and competitors.” - John Dinsdale, chief analyst at Synergy Research Group.

The global cloud market continued to grow strongly across regions

The United States is the largest market and had the highest growth rate among major countries, accounting for 44% of the world market.

Measured in local currencies, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Canada, and Taiwan were among the other countries with the strongest growth. The U.K. and Germany remained Europe’s largest cloud markets, while Ireland, Norway, Denmark, Finland, and the Netherlands were the region’s fastest-growing markets.
