Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Duo Powered by Oryon with SME1

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 delivers third-generation custom Qualcomm Oryon CPU, redesigned Adreno GPU, and Adreno High Performance Memory.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is Qualcomm’s newest top-tier mobile SoC for ultra-premium smartphones. It uses third-generation custom Qualcomm Oryon CPU cores in an octa-core configuration with two prime cores at 4.6 GHz and six performance cores at 3.62 GHz. The CPU adds hardware matrix acceleration via Arm’s Scalable Matrix Extension 1 (SME1) and selected Arm v9-A extensions relative to prior Oryon generations that implemented Arm v8.7-A, while maintaining the same cache hierarchy as the previous Elite generation. Graphics performance improves with a redesigned Adreno GPU and higher memory bandwidth enabled by Adreno High Performance Memory (HPM). The Qualcomm Hexagon NPU and Spectra ISP also gain efficiency and performance for on-device AI and computational photography. Connectivity is provided by the Snapdragon X85 modem with 5G-Advanced (3GPP Release 18), Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 6.0 support.
