The notebook PC market grew by 4% in Q2 2024, marking the third consecutive quarter of growth after declines in 2022 and 2023. This resurgence, driven primarily by strong commercial demand, is expected to continue through the remainder of 2024 and into 2025, particularly as enterprises prepare for the Windows 10 end-of-service in October 2025. However, the Chinese market remains challenged, with recovery not anticipated until mid-2025.
Consumer interest also saw an uptick, bolstered by the launch of AI-powered PCs like Microsoft’s Snapdragon-powered Copilot+ devices. While AI features are gaining attention, consumer use cases are still evolving. As the holiday season approaches, demand for these AI PCs may grow, though marketing may pivot to emphasize traditional benefits like battery life.
In terms of market leadership, Lenovo maintained its top position with 11.6 million units shipped, while HP, Apple, and Acer also saw growth. Dell was the only major vendor to experience a slight decline.
