PAIA now part of TechInsights: Expediting the path to Decarbonization
TechInsights has assumed ownership of PAIA, previously managed by MIT researchers and industry leaders. This combination creates the semiconductor industry’s most trusted supply chain intelligence, backed by the gold standard in carbon accounting methodology.
Why this benefits the industry
Our partners demand data that is not only accurate but also verifiable and standardized. By bringing PAIA into TechInsights, we are bridging the gap between proprietary intelligence and industry-vetted methodology.
Benefits to our customers
Extended Supply Chain Reach: Access to a broader network of product manufacturers, facilitating easier PCF data exchange between suppliers and customers.
Data Velocity: Accelerated update cadences for key datasets (IEA, ecoinvent) and rapid deployment of cradle-to-grave modeling tools.

About PAIA
Information & Communication Technology companies are frequently asked to share product environmental footprint information with their stakeholders. Examples of products might be software applications and operating systems, web-based information and applications, data projectors, computers and laptops, telephones and other telecommunications products, and video equipment and multimedia products.
The footprint information requested can be a carbon footprint or life cycle assessment, for example. These analyses can be resource-intensive and lengthy due to the high volume of products in the industry, in addition to the rapid product version updates on the market. This means that by the time a deep-dive footprint is complete and the results are achieved, the product may already be irrelevant. Given these limitations, there was a clear and urgent need for a tool that streamlines the calculation process for measuring the carbon footprint of electronics products.
That’s where PAIA comes in. The PAIA platform, developed based on MIT’s methodology, was created to speed up the process while delivering streamlined and consistent results that are robust enough to make fact-based decisions on product sustainability.
